SAS is the next-generation interface standard for SCSI-based systems, designed to replace the SCSI parallel interface with a much faster, more flexible, 3 Gbps serial interface while maintaining the robust nature of the SCSI command set. Mini-SAS" (iSAS) is the newest generation of SAS cables. It uses smaller connectors with improved performance and is ready for 6 Gbps. These are now used on many new controllers and backplanes being shipped today. The flexibility of SAS facilitates many system-level configurations, such as workstations, blade servers, external storage arrays, SAS expanders, host bus adapters (HBAs) and RAID controllers. Features
Connects a 4X host to a mini-SAS (iSAS) target
Improves point-to-point SCSI installations with increased cooling and airflow
InfiniBand thumbscrew connector and external mini-SAS pull-latch connector with universal key
Meets or exceeds existing SAS-2 standards
Supports data transfer speeds of up to 3 Gbps and future speeds up to 10 Gbps
